Preston Castle Fashion Photo shoot, Ione California

Theme: Sacramento Fashion Photography
Venue: Preston Castle, Ione, California
Model: Serena Starks
Photographer: Charleton Churchill

I was at Preston Castle this following weekend with many other photographers in a four hour window to photograph whatever we wanted. When I arrived, I was going to shoot artistic self-portraits, say hi to some photographer friends, and search the castle for ghosts (kidding on the ghosts part, I don’t mess around with that stuff). However, I was introduced to Serena, a local model, who graciously allowed me to photograph her for a portion of the time. Thanks to the Preston Castle team and leaders who worked hard and opened the doors to us. Here are a few of the photographs from the day.

Robin Peters, Amador High School Senior Portrait

Amador High School Senior Portrait
Couture Seniors – Robin Peters

I have been ridiculously photographing senior portraits for the last month, and there are more to come (with a new website among other things coming soon…).

I just finished photographing high school senior Robin Peters an hour ago.   She’s a sweet girl.  She wanted an Audrey Hepburn theme and most of the photographs we took were in my studio with the help of her wonderful mother!  I am currently uploading my images and backing up, and then backing up again, as I typically do after a session.  I took one of the images that grabbed my eye, and tweaked it a little.  We had photographed mostly in my studio today, but we took the last fifteen minutes outside downtown for a few ideas I had since she took the time to design this very outfit for her senior shoot (she’s very talented).  This image is very dramatic, and I don’t put up previews anymore for portraits (unless it’s a wedding or engagement session), but this is more of a vision I had rather than a typical senior portrait.  This is more of a Fine Art Photograph Senior Portrait duo shot.  I will be showing off some of her Audrey Hepburn photographs probably later in May.  She really does resemble her!

By the way, I have a new project coming out sometime in May.  I have been working on several projects, prioritizing my time at work, researching, reading, and trying to push myself and go deeper.   That’s the reason I have been off Facebook for a while because I can easily get sucked into the social media world without accomplishing much personal work.  More to come and share this year!

Pine Grove, California Engagement Session
Amador County Wedding Photographer
Destination of 2012 Wedding:  Union Hill Inn, Sonora, ,Ca.

Here are a few Amador County sneak peeks from yesterday’s rustic engagement session with Randy and Lisa.  I traveled up the street to Lisa’s parent’s property in Pine Grove.  The whole family got involved, which was unique, because it doesn’t happen very often.  Beautiful scenic views everywhere, which is why I love these charming small towns which encompass the Motherlode area.  Randy and Lisa are getting married in Sonora, California and the Union Hill Inn.  I had a fun time getting to know them (and their family).  Cheers to the future of this happy couple.

Jason & Kelly – Murphys Winery Wedding Photography, Laraine Winery Vallecito

I’m not going to lie, it’s been great photographing local weddings the last three weeks, not having to drive too far.  This last weekend I photographed Jason and Kelly’s wedding in Murphys California at Laraine Winery.  It was a unique wedding even though I had photographed another wedding there a few years ago.  If lightening and thunderous skies weren’t cool enough for an outside wedding, it was the dust in the wind that blew us away, both literally and metaphorically.  With all the Jason-Kelly Love and the atmospheric conditions , we were able to capture some beautiful light photographs as well as the dramatic magazine photographs.  Here are some images from this weekend. (I’m just including the first part of the day here in this blog, and not the reception event). Enjoy!

Travis and Lynn, Rustic Barn Engagement Photography, Amador County Weddings

Travis + Lynn = happily engaged couple!  I photographed Travis and Lynn’s engagement session here in Jackson, California.  Their friend Brian was gracious enough to allow them property use with the barn, open fields, rustic shack, old truck, and some staring cows.  Travis and Lynn are easily comfortable around the camera, not afraid to be cute and playful. I will be photographing their wedding at a local winery here in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Amador County next year.  Here are some of the recent photographs of their rustic barn engagement session!

Published in Real Weddings Magazine, mr. Sacramento wedding photographer

Killer thanks to Real Weddings Magazine for publishing and featuring one of my modern weddings in their Winter 2012 magazine publication.  Thank you to Wendy at Real Weddings, as well as others involved in the selection of the weddings.  Chris and Katie’s Summer backyard wedding was chosen and I’m grateful to have photographed their wedding celebration.  If you’re picking up the winter 2012 magazine edition at a local store, be sure and read Chris and Katie’s wedding story and how they planned their creative DIY backyard wedding with so much color, details, and lights.  You may also check out more images on my blog, which I published a while back here: Chris and Katie’s Wedding.

Seth and Courtney, Amador County Engagement Session, Calaveras County Wedding Photographer

Amador County Wedding Photographer: Charleton Churchill Photography
Calaveras County Engaged Couple: Seth and Courtney
Location of 2012 Wedding: Angel’s Camp, Greenhorn Golf Course
Engagement Photographs: Jackson, Amador County

bpp, bpp, microphone check. Hello, testing. I’m back on the blog. I have been on the engagement photography shooting frenzy with many couples lately, and I’m trying to at least post a few of them. With shooting forty weddings last year, many were in San Francisco, Sacramento, southern California, and a handful out of state. There’s a growing number of Amador and Calaveras County weddings on the rise on my books for this 2012 year for, and I’m thankful because I love these rustic spacious areas. I’m privileged to be working with so many great couples and vendors locally, and Seth and Courtney, are no exception. They are friendly and relaxed, and were willing to to do anything for their photographs. I’ll be photographing their wedding in Calaveras County at the Greenhorn Golf Course, Angel’s camp.

Here in these photographs below, we photographed in some lower locations, the sun dropped, and we ended the session.  After driving back up the hill about five or so miles, I noticed the sun had not yet fallen in some areas, so I pulled them over, and asked If I could take a few more.  They were ready (even though Starbucks was calling them).  You’ll see at the bottom, I shot off another five to ten minutes of photographs, which turned out great in camera. I love natural light and my lighting gear both!

Comments are welcome at the bottom! (no really, I’m serious!)
