Andy and Kim (Mountain View, California) – St. George Hotel Wedding, Volcano, Ca.

Andy and Kim came from the Bay Area, Mountain View, California to tie the knot magazine style at the St. George hotel in Volcano, Ca., a vintage town in Amador County. They called me last December, and we met for an engagement session, and took some unique and romantic photographs in Amador City, as well as the Amador County airport, near Sutter Creek. View the blog for the old airplane images. They both enjoy all kinds of adventures and common hobbies,…and actually went snowboarding after we met for our engagement session. Andy and Kim married at the St. George hotel, outside in the back with great musicians and catering filling the venue in Volcano, California. My second photographer, my fusion video assistant, and I met so many nice people. With any wedding, there is always a time factor in which we photographers try and remain sensitive. After the wedding ceremony, I asked the Bride if she was open to quickly driving over to this barn and old red truck, and she felt pressed for time. I really thought it was a perfect place for the wedding party and for both Andy and Kim for couples shots. Andy agreed and pushed for that area, and so we had everyone hop into vehicles and drive over there. We got the wedding party in three different backgrounds, plus the bride and groom in several red truck shots with flash in about eight minutes. We got amazing images in that time. After I showed the shots, they were excited for the investment in the extra time in photographs that would last them a lifetime. Thank you Kim and Andy for your patience, and your family and friends who were wonderful and overtly complimentary to us. Thank you for your trust and enthusiasm in our work and style. I look forward to meeting up with you when you arrive back from your honeymoon! Here are some of the images…

Senior Portrait Sessions – Kirkwood, California and Plasses Resort

I want to show a few images from a recent senior session I shot (just a few)!  I will show more later with a longer blog and description, but I just wanted to get a few up that I liked.

I drove up highway 88 early Monday morning to shoot some customized senior portrait sessions just before Kirkwood resort, called Plasse’s Resort, a great venue for outdoor and indoor activities, with an old church on the property.  Plasse’s resort, Silver Lake, and Kirkwood are all intertwined.  Plasse’s is an excellent place for photography because they have so much going on there with fishing, camping, horses, motorcycles and quads, an old general store and post office, dirt roads, people, big man trucks everywhere, and beautiful cabins.  A perfect place for photographs (without the mosquitoes hovering at you). Actually, a perfect place to shoot a wedding (ahem,..call me!).  I photographed Michele and Charlie there.  Charlie brought his motorcycle.  And we borrowed a white horse from some wonderful woman (whom I hope to get her name down on the next blog), right there at Plasse’s Resort.  Thank you Sandy for having the courage to ASK!  Here are a few of the images…

Phillip + Lena Wedding – Los Altos Wedding Photographer – Mountain View Photography

Here is one two of my fav images I am throwin’ down of this previous weekend’s wedding in Sunnyvale, California.  I will blog more in the next weeks, as I have some processing to finish on some of my other weddings.  It was a classic wedding with excellent vendors, beautiful setting at the Historical Museum in Los Altos, California.  Phillip and Lena were gracious, loving, and casual.  They honored me as a photographer and person in front of all, which was absolutely unexpected, and I felt humbled.  It was also great to meet up and see Dana and Zui from the wedding I shot in October of 2009 (which is on my blog).  I am glad to write on this wedding, and I will write up more on this beautiful wedding after I finish other projects!

My daughter knows how to rock a photo session – Jackson, Ca.

My daughter is stinking too smart, and she’s always looking at how I’m editing and shooting my sessions, looking at my fashion magazines and what not. Child photography can be quite fun.  We did a short session, like 20 minutes across the street in Jackson, and she just owned the camera. She’s going to pass her dad up someday.  When we got back, she already knew how to edit the image as we were looking through them.  She saying things like, “oh dad, fix the sunburn under my eyes, and the color temperature is not right (she actually said color, but that’s what she meant).  Who knows, maybe she’ll become a photographer as well.  Here are a few images I’m throwing up.  Mom likes the smiley ones more, but I decided to put some attitude up today.

Gabe and Lu – Arnold, Ca. Wedding Photographer

Gabe and Lu rocked their wedding this last weekend, Canadian, German, and American style!  Although they live in the Bay Area, (Mountain View, Ca.,) they married in Arnold, California (near Murphys, Ca.), and many flew out from Germany and Canada. Lu and Gabe were definitely in love, and they genuinely celebrated with all their family and friends.  The wedding took place on some beautiful property with a small lake off hwy 4, and a newly built beautiful log cabin, where I hope to stay soon.  Josh Heller and his family own the property, and they catered the event.  They worked hard for so many guests.  It was also nice to meet up with Jillian’s day spa once again. My photographer and I loved hanging out with our new friends, and enjoying the great salmon.  I learned from a guest that in Germany everyone in the family brings cakes to the wedding, so it’s not one giant cake, but all kinds and sizes.  Actually, I wouldn’t mind that at all.  Lastly, after displaying some of my images, a few asked if I am willing to shoot weddings in Europe, and I of course said definitely.  I do travel, and I love to travel, so hopefully I will be getting a few European weddings out of this… (wink, wink).  Anyway, here are some of the images from their wedding…

Tony and Ashlie – Roseville Wedding Photographer – Granite Bay Photography

Tony and Ashlie married in May 2010 in Roseville, California near Granite Bay.  I had the privilege of getting to know them on our engagement session in Sacramento, downtown, and I really like both of them.  I have gotten to know Ashlie’s family quite well, as I was invited to shoot their other daughter’s reception party, Ally, whom married in Utah the previous week.  Tony on the other hand is just a cool cat.  He’s got style and a good group of guys to make him laugh.  It was sad to learn at the wedding that his father had passed that week.  My heart goes out to him, and he was strong throughout the wedding and carried himself quite well.  We photographed the guys in the Hyatt Place hotel in Roseville as they were getting ready, across from the Roseville mall, which made for great interaction amongst all the guys.  The ladies were getting ready at Ashlie’s Aunt’s home.  I wanted to at least blog a few of the wedding images that were shot from that day.  Here are some from that day!

Bridal Fashion Session for Brides – Wedding Collections addition

Here are some of the magazine style images of the Bridal Fashion Session we had up in the mountains last month.  Great weather, great day.  We left early in the morning and shot for a little over half the day trying out different locations with different lighting, ring-flashes, battery kits, strobes, as well as the natural light.  If you purchase a wedding collection or package through Charleton Churchill Photography, a Bridal Fashion Session is an option, and is equivalent to  an engagement session cost.  I wanted to illustrate what a bride can anticipate when she purchases this option.  Lynn Holmes did an excellent job in this shoot as the model, as well as Travis (who loves O’s cereal).  Actually we stopped at Kirkwood where there was still a load of snow and ice rivers. So, Lynn started at about 5:30a.m. in the snowy weather in the 20′s for a bikini shot in the misty sunrise.  Ciara Hernandez was along the journey assisting me with make-up for Lynn, holding the reflector, adjusting lights, being blown away by the wind, video taping, and with whatever needed assistance!  We have so many more good quality images to choose from, but when you blog, you can only squeeze in so many without clogging up a web page. If you come to my studio by the end of the summer, and I should have a 10×15 complete Album portfolio for you all to view of this session.

Candace and Mitch, Valley Springs Wedding Photographer

Elegant and Vintage. That’s how I would describe this Valley Springs Wedding on the Watson Ranch. I must have passed several farms and open fields on the way. For those of you who know me, I love open space. Beautiful and simple. Wonderful bridesmaids and handsome groomsmen, all cooperated and stretched themselves this wedding day with me and my photographer’s camera’s in their faces constantly. I met Steve, a man who drove the large tractor out on the field, as well as made all the guys laugh. He almost looked as if he could be part of some mafia with the glasses I lent him and cigarette in his mouth. He told me at the end, he was thinking what in the heck is this photographer making me and guys go out into a dirty field to get photographs. At the end of the day when he saw the photographs, he shook my hand firmly and said that was well worth it! Mitch was a respectful man, a firefighter, a man’s man, who took responsibility of many details of the wedding for his wife to the point that even the bridesmaids were wanting him to be the wedding coordinator for their weddings. However both the bride and groom were relaxed and calm throughout the wedding. Candace was easy to work with and enjoyed laughing and smiling with the bridesmaids. My second photographer and I both had a blast mingling and meeting new people! Thank you Mitch and Candace for allowing us to be a part of your amazing wedding day! Here are some of the images from the wedding!

Bridal and Fashion photographs coming soon…

Here’s another teaser from our fashion bridal session, which will be posted sometime in the next week. Many images to post soon!  By the way, if some of you don’t have facebook, many great opportunities have turned up.  I met with a new wedding couple this week to see if we were a good fit, and one of the questions they asked was if I was open to shooting a wedding/post reception event in Germany? Uh, totally.  We shall see what happens!  Also, I had a conference call this week with editors of a magazine from New Zealand about shooting a wedding probably in 2012, but we’re still talking details.  I really dig their accent!  And then another magazine called me yesterday about flying down to Los Angeles to shoot for their magazine in the next few weeks.   Crazy stuff happening around here!

Alicia - This picture is awesome. It should be in a magazine. Whoever this girl is she is beautiful.June 18, 2010 – 8:33 pm

Charleton - Totally, thanks Alicia, wait until you see the rest! I’m excited to reveal soon!June 21, 2010 – 8:06 am
