So, here’s a teaser to some of images I shot for Jason and Margo’s family. I thought this one represented most what they wanted to accomplish in their family photography session. We photographed downtown, at the Ione church, and in their backyard. The kids had all their favorite items in this image (a book, Gameboy, and a doll), with Jason and Margo’s amazing suede couch. Jason and Margo had all these artistic ideas of what they wanted to shoot, at the skate park with their family, in Sacramento, and other places. They were just dreaming of all these shots they could possibly shoot with me. Here’s an image from that shoot!

My daughter is stinking too smart, and she’s always looking at how I’m editing and shooting my sessions, looking at my fashion magazines and what not. Child photography can be quite fun. We did a short session, like 20 minutes across the street in Jackson, and she just owned the camera. She’s going to pass her dad up someday. When we got back, she already knew how to edit the image as we were looking through them. She saying things like, “oh dad, fix the sunburn under my eyes, and the color temperature is not right (she actually said color, but that’s what she meant). Who knows, maybe she’ll become a photographer as well. Here are a few images I’m throwing up. Mom likes the smiley ones more, but I decided to put some attitude up today.

Here is one of the families that took advantage of the March mini-sessions this year, and I thought I would post. I would love to blog more sessions, but I’m not able to at this time. I want to make sure clients receive their print orders, canvas gallery wraps, metal wraps, albums, and whatever else they order.

So, I know this family from a while back because we both bought the new Kawasaki jet-skis and had a blast whipping it on Don Pedro lake with some other friends. They called me and wanted a family session. It was one of those days where is wasn’t raining. It was a blessing to be with them again and to photograph their young family. Here are some of the images.

I love when seniors and their parents call me and totally want to go all out for senior images, the best work, the best images, beautiful senior albums, videos, the new modern accordion books, a three hour senior session, and just about the whole package. Amber wanted to do whatever it took to have excellent modern images. We went downtown and then we drove over to Daffodil hill before the blanket of snow closed the tourist area! We had a blast and tons of images to sort through. Her mom was a great assistant, helping with whatever tools I brought along to make better shots! When they came to my Jackson Studio to view their images, it was hard to find bad images. Amber is really easy to photograph and had no problem smiling into the camera! Another great session in my new Jackson studio and with Ben and Sam’s child. Their kid walked around my studio, and I followed him with my fatty lens. Kids are interesting. You have to stay with them, wait for the moments, and expect your flashes to be properly set. The great thing is my studio is beginning to see more use. Pretty soon, much of the senior sessions I will be shooting this summer will be both shot inside and out. Outside is obviously the senior choice and my favorite as well, but we will be shooting fashion magazine style images later, which you all will see sometime in the near future.

I’m flying out to Portland tomorrow, going to be part of the FAreaking wedding action with two amazing photographers, Kevin Focht (www.leftturnstudio.com) and his great business partner, Andrew Funderberg, a.k.a., Fundy, whom also creates excellent software for photographers. Both have been involved in photography for a long time. Kevin has been in the Fashion industry in New York and London for a while, until he moved back to the west after he and his Family experienced the September 11 tragedy a few blocks away. He has been on the cover of bride magazines, like Oregon Bride, and other award winning magazines. You can read more about him if you Google his name. Many links!

Family and Baby Portraits: Northern California Photographer

I think everyone and their moms are out for photos this season. I typically don’t shoot much baby sessions below or family photographs, but it appears this season is popular for family photographers. So, I’m trying to produce a few images for everyone, while processing many others I have to finish. I actually used my studio for the first time this week (even though it’s not open yet). Here are few baby shots and a photograph another family in our area. I have been photographing in Placerville, El Dorado, Sacramento, Folsom, and Amador County everywhere. Alright gotta go….
