My daughter is stinking too smart, and she’s always looking at how I’m editing and shooting my sessions, looking at my fashion magazines and what not. Child photography can be quite fun. We did a short session, like 20 minutes across the street in Jackson, and she just owned the camera. She’s going to pass her dad up someday. When we got back, she already knew how to edit the image as we were looking through them. She saying things like, “oh dad, fix the sunburn under my eyes, and the color temperature is not right (she actually said color, but that’s what she meant). Who knows, maybe she’ll become a photographer as well. Here are a few images I’m throwing up. Mom likes the smiley ones more, but I decided to put some attitude up today.

Bridal Fashion Session for Brides – Wedding Collections addition

Here are some of the magazine style images of the Bridal Fashion Session we had up in the mountains last month. Great weather, great day. We left early in the morning and shot for a little over half the day trying out different locations with different lighting, ring-flashes, battery kits, strobes, as well as the natural light. If you purchase a wedding collection or package through Charleton Churchill Photography, a Bridal Fashion Session is an option, and is equivalent to an engagement session cost. I wanted to illustrate what a bride can anticipate when she purchases this option. Lynn Holmes did an excellent job in this shoot as the model, as well as Travis (who loves O’s cereal). Actually we stopped at Kirkwood where there was still a load of snow and ice rivers. So, Lynn started at about 5:30a.m. in the snowy weather in the 20′s for a bikini shot in the misty sunrise. Ciara Hernandez was along the journey assisting me with make-up for Lynn, holding the reflector, adjusting lights, being blown away by the wind, video taping, and with whatever needed assistance! We have so many more good quality images to choose from, but when you blog, you can only squeeze in so many without clogging up a web page. If you come to my studio by the end of the summer, and I should have a 10×15 complete Album portfolio for you all to view of this session.

Here’s another teaser from our fashion bridal session, which will be posted sometime in the next week. Many images to post soon! By the way, if some of you don’t have facebook, many great opportunities have turned up. I met with a new wedding couple this week to see if we were a good fit, and one of the questions they asked was if I was open to shooting a wedding/post reception event in Germany? Uh, totally. We shall see what happens! Also, I had a conference call this week with editors of a magazine from New Zealand about shooting a wedding probably in 2012, but we’re still talking details. I really dig their accent! And then another magazine called me yesterday about flying down to Los Angeles to shoot for their magazine in the next few weeks. Crazy stuff happening around here!

I just want to give a big thanks to all of you who voted me #1 best photographer in northern California through the KCRA 2010 A-List best of businesses. I know there are many great and wonderful photographers out there who deserve the same. I’m inspired by many of them as well. There are others I want to thank as well.

I thank Jesus. Without Him, my life would definitely not be where it’s at today. I’m a different man. By God’s grace, I press on daily, striving to be that good man. He has blessed me with my beautiful wife of eleven years, three beautiful girls, and many relationships with people who are great and influential in my life . I also want to thank my family locally and afar. I want to especially thank my wife for not only putting up with me, but taking on quite a load with our home and children, and as a public school teacher. She has been a huge support in this growing photography business.

People that have been influential in my life, people like my Pastor George for putting up with me and continually encouraging and challenging me all these years. Randy Fields for his influence in my life as a high school and college student, pushing me to work hard. Close friends from college and the band, Andrew Shirley, Nathan Brown, Chris Berry, Joel Berry, Brett McFadden, Ben Rayls, Dex Alexander,…where would I be today?

My photographer inspirations and thanks go out to Kevin Focht and Andrew Funderburg for mentoring me and pouring into me regarding the business and art of photography. Thanks for being honest, challenging, and pushing me to new levels. Kevin Focht, thank you for allowing me to fly up to Portland and shoot a wedding with you. Scott Wreyford for your wisdom and willingness to answer all my questions. Scott Kelby (I know, I don’t know him personally, but man his books are great). Jonathan Esper your frienship in landscape photography on Mt. McKinley, Denali, Alaska (2007). Travis Hoehne for introducing me to the business of photography, and getting me started. You’ve been a gracious friend. Robert Evans, for allowing me to drive with you on a road trip to WPPI Vegas. It was worth it. Thanks for teaching me about emotionalism in art. I would like to thank the photographers of Amador County, our local PPA, WWPI, David Jay, Chase Jarvis, and the photographers I shoot with for their great work and assistance in my life. And of course, my huge early and most adored inspirations, Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell. I will never enjoy photography as I do on the mountains I climb. There is something beautiful and peaceful in the grandness of a mountain. Of course, there are many other photographers I would like to thank, and who have inspired me. Thank you all.

Again, I cannot reiterate how much I am thankful for you all. Without you, this means nothing. There are some of you who are die hard fans. Mitch you definitely can be nominated as one of my craziest fans. I love you bro. Thank you all for referring your friends to me for weddings, in state, across the states.

Fashion and Bridal Photographer – Kirkwood, Lake Tahoe, California

Wow, what a great day today! I’m exhausted. We woke up around 3a.m., and headed out the door by 4a.m. in my truck with a group to photograph a fashion and bridal session near Nevada. We captured so many amazing images today, it’s going to be hard to pick and choose. We traveled from place to place for set-up of flashes and props. Ciara Hernandez did the make-up, and Travis Wiliams was the props man, among other things. Good day! Here’s an image peak from the session.

Holly is our Argonaut High School Senior Portrait Model Rep from Ione, representing one of two chosen models from this school. Christian Toma will be our male model representing Amador High School, whom we will shoot this week. Holly is not just a Senior Model rep for Charleton Churchill Photography, she is also a model working both in San Francisco and Los Angeles. She came upon my website, sent me an email saying she wanted to work together, and now she’s representing CCP. Thank you Holly for your great attitude. Senior Model Rep Amador High School – Haley – Amador County Photographer

Haley will be our Amador High School Senior Portrait Model Rep from Pine Grove, representing one of two chosen models from this school. Posts will be made with the other chosen senior model reps from Argonaut High School in Jackson, California. I’m hoping to be Amador’s Senior Portrait photographer of choice, and then to extend this special Senior Portrait Photography program out to Sacramento, Placerville, El Dorado, Folsom, and Elk Grove,…I guess anything northern California, even the Bay area.
